Torrey Pines North Course, La Jolla, California, Usa

Torrey Pines is considered to be one of the premiere municipal facilities in the United States.
Ranked among the Top Courses in the US,  and owned by the city of San Diego, California, is located 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego, in the community of La Jolla.
It features two 18 holes golf courses, Torrey Pines North and Torrey Pines South Course. They both have been designed in 1957 by William F. Bell and built on the coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
It is named after the torrey pine tree, a rare tree that only grows in this area.
Every year in January or February both courses host the Farmers Insurance Open, tournament of the PGA Tour, and in 2008 Torrey Pines South Course hosted the US Open (for the first time on a public golf course), won by Tiger Woods.

As in Bethpage Black, getting a tee time reservation for a "visiting" golfer in Torrey Pines is not that easy. They only way to get one, based on availability, is to call directly the Torrey Pines Administration Office. Rates differ depending if you are a City of San Diego resident or non-resident.
I've been able to book a couple of tee times (one on the North Course and one on the South Course) more then 40 days in advance.

I first played Torrey Pines North Course on June 25th on a wonderful sunny day.
It is shorter then the South Course and is considered to be the easiest of the two.
Rated 74.5/133 and 7061 yds long from the tips it features several holes on the front 9 bordering the Ocean.
The signature hole par 3 6th is may favorite. 160 yds from an elevated tee with an incredible view of the San Diego County coast.
